Walmart Says YES to the adDRESS – Made in the US
Today at Walmart’s Manufacturing Supplier Summit, Walmart said YES to over 800 new suppliers. New products will be listed on Walmart.com as part of their initiative to bring manufacturing back to the US and Investing in American Jobs. www.walmart.com/madeinusa.
Like buying the perfect wedding dress, Walmart and its buyers work hard to select and put the right products on the shelves in the right stores.
In 2013, Walmart announced its commitment to purchase an additional $250 billion in products made, sourced or grown in the U.S. over 10 years. Three years later, hundreds of new products are on the shelves with a “Made in the USA” label. Today, small businesses from all over the US and Puerto Rico are meeting with Walmart buyers to get their products on the shelves and Walmart is giving them a head start by hosting them on Walmart.com.
This afternoon, three companies participated in a Shark Tank like competition with none other than Daymond John himself, as one of the judges. One of the products, a desk chair made by Made in America Seating is a reshoring story. Made in America Seating is bringing manufacturing back to a new facility in Tennessee and creating 500 new jobs for that community. All three companies were approved and their products will be on the shelves as early as the fall.
The Reshoring Institute is proud to support Walmart’s efforts and their suppliers.
