Middle Class Economics – SOTU 2015

01_Barack-Obamas-speech

We were excited that during this year’s SOTU address President Obama continued the trend of the last two years in promoting Reshoring, Manufacturing Innovation Institutes and building the middle class. “After shedding jobs for more than 10 years, our manufacturers have added about 500,000 jobs over the past three.” President Obama gave credit to Caterpillar, Ford, Intel and Apple for bringing jobs back from overseas. These companies are leaders in their industries and now are leading the way towards a sustainable Middle Class in America.

There are several ways that we can help grow and sustain the Middle Class and Reshoring plays a huge part. His proposal to make community colleges free is a great first step!  As we have mentioned in several past blogs many of the skills needed in manufacturing have been lost and with new innovation new skills need to be developed. Community colleges are the key to learning these skills that will help Americans climb out of poverty and into jobs that will provide a life sustaining wage.

We are prepared to help support companies and community colleges in this effort! We are the liaison between the two, we help companies determine where to best locate their new facility and connect them with local talent. Community colleges help prepare that talent and by making attending community college free it will motivate more people to attend and therefore get more people to work! The more people that work, the stronger the middle class will be and the stronger our country will become.

No matter who is the President of the United States, we have an obligation to continue to try to make our country better. We have to do what we can to encourage companies to bring manufacturing back! We do that by buying local, looking for the Made in the USA label and encouraging our government leaders to support Middle Class Economics!

The Reshoring Institute are working hard to bring manufacturing back. Join us in making Reshoring happen.
