Our student interns go through a rigorous selection process. Selected students are assigned one of the designated research topics and are guided through their projects throughout the semester by Reshoring Institute Directors. Student interns must have either taken courses in supply chain management or have some experience in this field. Graduate and undergraduate students may apply for the semester-long paid research assignments
Jada Thompson

Jada Thompson is a senior at the University of New Haven, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Growing up in Jamaica exposed her to diverse business practices, and after moving back to the U.S., she developed an interest in economics, wealth management, and international business.
Through approximately 3 years of retail work experience, she gained valuable experience in supply chain management by resolving issues between contractors and vendors, emphasizing its critical role in business operations. Additionally, her involvement with the National Model United Nations (NMUN) allowed her to participate in over five national conferences, where she honed her skills in diplomacy, international relations, and collaboration.
Josephine Ortega

Josephine Ortega is a graduating senior at Southern Connecticut State University’s School of Business, pursuing her degree in International Business. During her time at the university, she has been an active member of both the BIS and Global Brigades clubs, engaging in business-related discussions and activities that enhance her academic journey. Josephine also contributed to several projects aimed at helping businesses navigate the complexities of international markets and manufacturing processes.
Outside of school, Josephine has gained practical experience in international business through her family connections in Europe, which have given her insights into international trade and supply chain management. She also enjoys teaching English to non-native speakers, an experience that has sharpened her communication and cross-cultural skills. In her free time, she enjoys exploring different cultures, practicing foreign languages, and staying engaged in international affairs.
Daniel Domsky

Daniel Domsky is a student studying Economics and International Relations at American University in Washington, DC. Originally from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Daniel worked for over ten years traveling across villages and cities across central Mexico. With this experience, he saw firsthand how economic development and investment can improve the lives of millions.
Over his academic career, Daniel has focused his studies on issues surrounding supply chain shifts, transnational migration, and economic development. Daniel has previously held internships at the Embassy of Mexico in the United States and at the Democratic National Committee.
Alex Whitehorn

Alex Whitehorn is a graduating senior from the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, specializing in Operations and Supply Chain with a minor in Management. In his time at the University of Utah, he acted as a Co-President of the Supply Chain Club and founding officer of the Car Club. He also worked with the University under their Career Services department, during which time he collaborated with a variety of companies to ensure graduating seniors found successful career paths.
Outside of school, Alex worked with Northrop Grumman as a global supply chain intern (summer 23) within their procurement division, allowing him to gain a deep understanding of problem-solving skills and optimization. Additionally, Alex is currently completing a capstone project with Fortem Technologies with a focus on supplier selection, supplier quality, and supplier maintenance processes. In his free time, Alex enjoys skiing, automotive photography, and reading.
Jacob Wenzel

Jacob Wenzel graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in both Political Science and International Business. He is currently attending Law School at the University of California Davis.
As an undergraduate, he participated in a study abroad opportunity in Tokyo, Japan where he studied the international business practices of many Asian countries. This trip established Jacob’s love for travel and no matter where his work takes him he is excited to learn more about where he will end up. Outside of school, Jacob has worked at several law firms and political campaigns as well as other jobs like a local pizza shop in San Diego. Jacob wants to explore the international business world further as he continues his study of the law.

Juliana Ausano is a graduate student at the University of San Diego pursuing a Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Supply Chain Management. During her time at USD, she found a love for international travel and culture.
She has participated in the Student International Business Council and has utilized specialized international marketing and trade databases to propose data-driven solutions to clients seeking expansion overseas. She also engaged in assisting a client located in France with the intention to create market expansion. Juliana managed in global, virtual business consulting team with colleagues from four continents. She applied global project management principles in the execution of international business development.

Henry Smith

Henry Smith graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering. Throughout his collegiate internships, he worked in the supply chain connecting consumers to suppliers, and in the aeronautics industry working on experimental prototypes.
At Berkeley, he was a member of the Cal Baseball Data Analytics team, where he created models to help improve and inform the varsity baseball team. He was also a member of the Makerpass community, which gives students the resources and support to learn manufacturing and prototyping techniques including welding, milling, 3D printing, and others. In addition, he played for the Cal Bears Men’s Lacrosse team.

Daniel Mongan graduated from the Accelerated Program at SUNY Binghamton University with a MBA in Business Administration. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Scranton in December 2020, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Finance.
Daniel had been a member of many business-related clubs and organizations throughout his time in college, including PRISM (Portfolio of Responsible Investments under Student Management), where Scranton students were responsible for managing a portion of the endowment fund of the University. Daniel also has a great interest in the study of supply chains and their management.

Bennett Williams graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in International Business from the University of San Diego. While there he participated in a semester of study abroad in Florence, Italy at Florence University of the Arts and is passionate about international travel. He worked on a consulting project with students in Italy, Norway, and Ghana on analyzing marketing trends in St. Petersburg, Russia in hopes of helping local restaurants to thrive following the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to his studies, he was a member of the International Business Club and Men’s Club Volleyball Team at USD.
Along with international consulting, Bennett has interests in marketing, operations, and finance and is currently working towards a career in a related field. In the past, he has had multiple internships including one as a Research Analyst performing SEO work for Placesign in San Diego.

Michelle Kosasih is a graduate of the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, with a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Info & Analytics and Operation Management and Business Analytics. At Purdue, she was involved in Scope Consulting as a Project Manager (Fall 2020) and student consultant (Spring 2021) where she works on the Schneider Electric competition program and Chick-fil-A operations.
She served as the Director of Outreach in Operation & Supply Chain Organization and Vice President of External in Solar Chapter Purdue. Growing up in Indonesia, Michelle is proficient in Bahasa, English, and basic Mandarin. She is passionate about data visualization (making charts with different colors and tools) and loves soy lattes.

Jessica Tran is a graduate of the Accelerated Program at Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. At Stony Brook, she worked at the Manufacturing & Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC) where she closely interacted with clients for product development through CAD work and rapid prototyping.
She also has an affinity for the arts and hopes to combine it with her technical studies to create engineering designs that promote ingenuity and efficiency.
Madeline de Quillacq

George Washington University
Madeline de Quillacq graduated from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University, with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and International Affairs, with a concentration in International Economics. She attended Sciences Po in Paris on exchange for one year where she taught English as a second language through a local speaking agency. She was president of GW Women in Economics and had been a student research assistant at the Institute of International Economic Policy for over a year. Her research focused on constructing a unique granular database on international capital flows, which includes every bond, loan, and share issued in international capital markets over two hundred years.
She served as an undergraduate teacher’s assistant for the college course “Principles of Mathematics for Economics” and presented her research at two teaching conferences in Pittsburgh and St. Louis. She also worked for the GW School of Business in the office of Management and Tourism as an administrative assistant. Madeline is a tri-citizen (US, UK, France) and fluent in French. She is passionate about politics, languages, travel, and art.
Ryan Edwards

Ryan Edwards graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree with a Consulting Concentration and Data Analytics Certificate from the Texas Christian University. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business Foundations.
In conjunction with his studies at TCU, Ryan was working as a business consultant with JCPenney and served as the President of the MBA Consulting Club for the 2020-21 academic year.
Ryan’s professional experience lies primarily in the sporting industry. He has worked for a number of sporting organizations including the Dallas Cowboys, the University of Texas Men’s Basketball team, and the Texas Christian University Men’s Basketball team. He has served in marketing, operations, people management, and data analytics roles throughout his career in sports.

Gabriel Evans graduated with a Masters’s in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Arkansas. Gabriel holds a BA degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Swarthmore College and an AA in Behavioral studies from the College of the Redwoods.
Gabriel has a growing interest in building Social Sustainability through various avenues, including job opportunities, wealth attainment and management, income and educational inequality, and social mobility. He looks forward to his time at the Reshoring Institute to learn more about reshoring and supply chain and its relationship to Social Sustainability.

Rafael Ferraz graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of San Diego and has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering.
During his undergrad at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, he studied business in France at the Université Pantheon-Assas Paris II through an international extension program and worked as an intern for Accenture and Bureau Veritas.
After graduation, he worked for Petrobras before moving to San Diego. He reached the semifinals in the Fowler Business Concept Challenge and 3rd place at the Sempra’s Case Competition.

Zach Sudnick graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. He holds BA degrees in Individualized Studies, Sustainability, and Energy from Miami University.
Zach has worked as an intern for a number of environmentally-focused non-profit organizations and government agencies and has held numerous leadership positions within community-based and sustainability-centered student organizations. As part of his MBA program, Zach worked as a business consultant for a non-profit food bank with the mission of distributing food to the hungry throughout the state of Kentucky.

Jasmine Afshar graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). She holds an MA in Peace and Justice Studies from the University of San Diego

Jasmine has served as a translator in refugee camps in Lesvos, Greece and was Operations Manager of the Tiyya Foundation – a nonprofit that provided community support to families of refugees and low-income immigrant families newly resettling in the U.S. In the MBA program, Jasmine is working as a business consultant for a startup that uses technological solutions to assist governments to better support refugees and immigrants. Upon graduation, Jasmine hopes to pursue a career in consulting so that corporations or nonprofits have the tools needed to make a positive impact within their communities and the world.

While studying abroad in Madrid in 2016, she found her passion for Supply Chain Management. This experience led to internships in varies fields of business including transportation, pharmacy benefits, business consultant, etc.
She has served the SLU community as International Ambassador and events organizer for the Korean Student Association. When not studying, working or organizing events, she volunteers at Campus Kitchen and helps international students improve their English skills. Her career goal is to work for corporations or NGOs, where she can make an impact not only for the company but also for the community.
Nabaparna Ghosh

Nabaparna Ghosh graduated with an MBA from Rutgers Business School, with a concentration in supply chain management. Nabaparna holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering. Prior to Rutgers, she worked in the tech industry in a client-facing role for over eight years. A certified PMP, she has in-depth experience in project management. She managed some high impact projects for her client, some of which were developing and rolling out new products in the market. Nabaparna is the Vice President of Rutgers Toastmasters club and the Treasurer of Rutgers Women in Business Club. Paulo has a diverse background in the field of Business, he has worked as an Accounting Intern for Nabil Barsoum CPA which is a small private Beverly Hills CPA firm and as a Lease Acquisition Coordinator for Lease Advisors where he helped manage real estate and financial products for property owners who host cellular sites. He dedicated his time with the Student Veteran of America in the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego where he helped student veterans with resources, support, and connectivity to their respective communities. During the course of her graduate studies, Chenell had the opportunity to build on her business acumen at the international level while taking courses abroad in Seoul, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Lisbon, and Madrid. She currently works as a Consultant for Accenture.
Chenell has several years of business experience which includes work within the non-profit field as well as client services, and insurance. Jin Zhao

Jin Zhao graduated with an MBA from the University of San Diego in May 2017. She comes from a solid technical background with a strong interest in business operations. Her areas of focus and interest vary from quantitative analysis to project management. She has a Bachelor degree of Science in Electronic Engineering. Before the MBA Program at the University of San Diego, she had more than ten years work experience in manufacturing operations with the responsibility of Project Operations, Engineering Customer Service on Site, International Trading, Souring, Planning, Order Management and Logistics. She currently works as an NPI Materials Project Manager at Applied Materials.
In 2010, she co-founded GATM (Dalian) Tech&Eng. Co., Ltd as a contractor company in the industry of system integration of electronic information and automation. Through her ten years work experiences in manufacturing operations, she gained solid research, analytical and problem-solving skills to improve work operations. Her experience also provided her skills of communication, teamwork, generating innovative ideas and strategies in the business environment.
Sean Rothrock

Sean Rothrock graduated with an MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of San Diego in May 2017. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. Sean’s work experience prior to pursuing an MBA was in the petroleum industry, primarily in Houston, TX as an Exploration Geophysicist. He currently works as an Accounting Analyst at Mitchell International.
During the course of his MBA studies, Sean gained significant international business exposure while taking courses abroad in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Lisbon, and Madrid. When not studying at Copley Library, Sean is most likely enjoying San Diego’s natural beauty while surfing or hiking.

Kendra Uminger graduated with an MBA in Marketing from the University of San Diego in May 2017. Kendra graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration with an emphasis in theatre. After graduation Kendra worked in marketing at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, working primarily in graphic design. Later she worked in sales for a small music company before beginning her MBA in the fall of 2015. She currently works as an Account Strategist at the Elevator Agency.

Nick Privitelli graduated with a Bachelor of Finance and a minor in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Diego in May 2016. Nick has diverse work experience ranging from restaurant to aerospace. In the beginning of his college tenure, Nick cultivated strong interpersonal skills as a server for TGIS Catering and as a Telefunder for the University of San Diego. Being an Orange County native and going to school in San Diego, Nick found an itch to expand his horizons and see more of the world. This urge to travel eventually led Nick to Madrid, Spain, where he not only studied Finance and Marketing, but he also developed two young Spanish children’s English-speaking proficiency with weekly tutoring sessions. During his junior summer, Nick worked for RBC Bearings and learned to appreciate and respect the intricacies of operations as well as business development. He currently works as a Business Advisory at EY.
When Nick is not studying or working, you can find him riding his dirt-bike on tracks in Orange County or engaging in some good ole’ fashion friendly-competitive Spikeball.
Po-Yueh Lin

Po-Yueh Lin graduated in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of San Diego majoring in International Business with a double minor in Supply Chain Management and Nonprofit Social Enterprise & Philanthropy. He is currently completing his military service in Taiwan.
As a Taiwanese national, raised in Canada, Po-Yueh enjoys fresh perspectives and challenges. He was an intern for a local literature nonprofit Traveling Stories where he engaged in community outreach and volunteer management. Every few years, Po-Yueh ventured to India to volunteer for Karmapa Foundation, where he worked with people from diverse backgrounds. Through his experiences, he is comfortable in cross-cultural environments and possesses effective communication skills.
In his free time, he enjoys cooking, creating arts and solo backpacking.
Andrew Gruszka

Andrew Gruszka graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Bachelor of International Business degree with a minor in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Diego in December 2015. He currently works as a Global Portfolio Accountant at Capital Group in American Funds.
Andrew has a diverse work background which includes sales, analytics, research, and brand management for both Fortune 500 companies and small startups. These opportunities have given him a knowledgeable background with many different industries and types of businesses. In addition to working with the Reshoring Institute, Andrew co-founded an app company called Rocket Apps with a few other USD students and alumni. During his junior year, Andrew spent 6 months studying abroad and traveling in Europe, where he continued to develop his interest in the International community. Andrew is a full-time student but enjoys swimming, playing water polo, snowboarding, and cooking in his free time.

Ivan Reed graduated with an MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of San Diego in May 2016. As a San Diego native, he also attended SDSU with a focus in Political Science. Directly after his undergraduate studies, he worked as a political consultant for 5 years. He then made a transition into a finance role at Ashford University, where he began to make significant operational improvements including the creation and management of a new department focused on student retention. He now operates a San Diego SEO Firm called SunCity Advising as the founder and CEO.

Eric Pardee graduated with an MBA in finance and managerial leadership in May 2016 from the University of San Diego. He currently works as a Valuations Senior Associate at Eureka Capital Partners.
Eric graduated with a B.S in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2010. After graduation, he moved back to California and began working in finance as a Financial Advisor for Prudential Insurance, and as a Personal Banker for Wells Fargo Bank. After a trip to Europe in 2012, Eric realized that he has a passion for travel, so in 2013 he left the business world to pursue an opportunity and began working as a deckhand on private “mega-yachts”. This occupation brought him to remote locations such as St. Lucia and Barbados in the south Caribbean, and the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea in the South Pacific.

In 2014, she was an operations intern for Master Lock Warehouse in her hometown Nogales, Arizona, where she was exposed to the logistics operations of the company, as well as the many risks and challenges faced within a supply chain. During her junior year, she studied abroad in Madrid, Spain and enjoyed living amidst the Spanish culture as well as learning about it. in her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and running on the beach.
Zachary Hines

Zachary Hines graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a minor in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Diego in May 2015. During his junior year, Zack studied abroad in New Zealand, where he learned about their culture and discovered some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. He currently works as a Small Business Specialist at ADP.
The majority of Zack’s work experience comes from the Restaurant/Hospitality industry, including corporations such as the Ritz Carlton, where he learned the fundamental values of quality, customer satisfaction, and time management. As well as working for the Reshoring Institute, Zack is working for a small business called Speaqua, in collaboration with USD alumni. He is learning diverse aspects of the business including product development, sales, marketing, and team management. Zack has a true passion for surfing and anything involved with the ocean. He plans to travel to places such as Africa and Indonesia in the near future.
