We were busy bringing on two new interns, visiting Walmart’s headquarters and preparing for this year’s Manufacturing Day. September brings us a new semester and a new intern, a month closer to MFG Day and exciting new projects!
National Manufacturing Day
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) sponsors Manufacturing Day℠ a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. MFG Day occurs on the first Friday in October which is October 2 this year. As member of NAM we are proud to co-sponsor three events this year:
October 1, 2015: Factory Tour and Presentation at Evolve Manufacturing in Fremont, CA
October 2, 2015: Factory Tour and Presentation at Ametek in San Diego, CA
All of the events are open to the public and more information can be found via the hyperlinks above.
Evolve Manufacturing Technologies
The Reshoring Institute is very proud to announce our newest sponsor, Evolve Manufacturing Technologies. Evolve Manufacturing Technology is a contract manufacturer offering innovative turnkey solutions for precision mechanical and electro-mechanical products for a variety of customers and industries.
“Our partnership with the Reshoring Institute will help us deepen our US manufacturing assistance,” says Noreen King, CEO of Evolve Manufacturing Technology. “We are seeing a high level of interest in Reshoring production and we are positioned to take on new production projects.”
With a leading-edge manufacturing facility located in Silicon Valley along with a talented team of manufacturing professionals, Evolve provides both proximity and expertise for high tech manufacturers.
Evolve works with clients from pre-clinical stages of product development through final commercialization. Evolve provides dedicated work cells for projects, and can accommodate breaks in production due to re-design and regulatory delays, a valuable and cost-effective approach for medical device and other types of manufacturing.
Over the coming year, watch for combined events with Evolve and the Reshoring Institute, starting with a facility tour for National Manufacturing Day on Oct 1.
The Reshoring Institute has partnered with All American Open Machine Time. AAOMT provides an affordable web subscription service to American (USA-based) machining and fabricating contractors to put American job shop suppliers together with worldwide buyers.
Idle machine time in job shops is matched up with buyers of machining services via AAOMT’s web site www.allamericanopenmachinetime.com filling a critical need for both sellers and buyers of machining services. AAOMT is a very economical way for locating services offered and needed to support the rebuilding of American manufacturing. Inquiring engineering minds, purchasing agents and buyers have free access to this site.
AAOMT was started by John Benadum, a former Manufacturing Sales Engineer with a long history in precision machining & fabricating. You can read more about the company in this month’s guest blog.
Coming Soon! State Information and Comparisons
We are currently working with several states that we met at Walmart’s Manufacturing Summit in creating a database of key information important in determining on where to Reshore. We are currently collecting data from a few Beta states and hope to extend our survey to other states soon.
