Video Podcast Supply Chain, Retail and Forever Chemicals Recording Date March 8, 2023 Duration https://sc247.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/podcasts/rosemary_030823.mp4 hrs/min/sec From Waterproof Make-up to Teflon Pans to the Train Wreck in Ohio – Forever Chemicals Are All Around Us Rosemary Coates, Executive Director of the Reshoring Institute, hosts this episode of The Frictionless Supply Chain. In this episode, we discuss the roughly 12,000 PFAS chemicals and where they are in your supply chains and in your homes. PFAS chemicals are used in coatings, lubricants, insulation, and a host of other processes in manufacturing. Due to their tight chemical bonds, these substances have difficulty breaking down over time, which has resulted in their nickname “forever chemicals.” These chemicals resist degradation in the environment and accumulate in the body — studies have shown potential adverse human health effects from exposure to some PFAS. New regulations are driving chemical companies to stop producing many of these. Sourcing these products is going to become more difficult and the restrictions on shipping them more complex.
